Soulbound V.8

Soulbound Volume Eight by Various Artists   (March 31, 2012) *

Out monthly collection is back.  Soulbound Eight features some of our favorite songs from the blog this past March and some older as well.  Starting off with an Australian favorite, Post Paint and ending on the concluding notes of The Rare Plants Garden, the compilation holds no standard genre or format.  Instead, view it as a whimsical journey through the global DIY scene.  We’d like to thank all the bands involved for helping us put this together.  As always, it’s free for download off our bandcamp.

USA by The Suits   (March 20, 2012) *

Speaking of New Cull, the new Suits album has been long in the making; going through a number of compositional shifts.  Frontman Evan Shinners, well, he’s a bit of a perfectionist and for a while I’ve had access to these demo tracks, recorded on a whim, infused with all sorts of DIY love, luring the man himself into releasing them.  Well, I’m happy to say this morning, that the brainstorm-offspring of all their hard work is finally here for download.  Grab yourself a copy and roll around in the afterbirth.

Evan Shinners

When most hear the name Evan Shinners they think Bach.  It’s commonly known that the young pianist is among the best in the world but underneath that formal Juilliard aesthetic lies one of the most powerful forces in the NYC underground.  Always using his pull for good, Shinners fronts The Suits (we’ve been waiting forever for new recordings), his own experimental rock band that parallels in intensity to the Flaming Lips.  He also hosts New Cull, the quarterly cultural event.
