Sugarcube Coverage

This past Saturday we hosted our first event at a great new space in north Williamsburg, Muchmore’s.  The new DIY space’s warm atmosphere proved to be the perfect setting for those looking to catch the nights finest lineup.  With Puh flying in from Sweden, Sharpless riding in from Chicago, and Lil Kids making their debut performance, Sugarcube turned out to be one of the most genuinely fun shows we’ve had since starting these shenanigans.  Beginning with a down-tempo set from Brooklyn’s Happy Lives and ending with the insane sounds of The Harmonica Lewinskies, The Snake, Mavy Entertainment and Dingus are proud to bring you some images from the show.  (Photography by Sam Martin-Delaney)

Sugarcube is TONIGHT

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my honor and priveledge to announce to you, once again, our free event in collaboration with The Snake Records.  We’ll be breaking in a brand new venue, Muchmore’s with the likes of Lil Kids, Puh, The Harmonica Lewinskies, Sharpless and Happy Lives.  We strive to keep our shows as genre bending as possible (it can get weird) and tonight is no different.  Be ready to get hit with sagapop from Sweden, pervasive hip-hop from the block and the big band power of New York City among other musical treats.  Admission is FREE FREE FREE and the show is ALL AGES.  We’ve got a cash bar in the main room so bring your drinking hats and let’s get funny.  Check out the facebook page for details and be sure to come say hi- I’ll be working behind the bar.  @Dingusonmusic

Soulbound V.8

Soulbound Volume Eight by Various Artists   (March 31, 2012) *

Out monthly collection is back.  Soulbound Eight features some of our favorite songs from the blog this past March and some older as well.  Starting off with an Australian favorite, Post Paint and ending on the concluding notes of The Rare Plants Garden, the compilation holds no standard genre or format.  Instead, view it as a whimsical journey through the global DIY scene.  We’d like to thank all the bands involved for helping us put this together.  As always, it’s free for download off our bandcamp.

Greater Than

‘Greater Than’ by Sharpless   (February 27, 2012) *

With machine-gun style drum rolls, ‘Greater Than‘ thunders its way into your heart with a set of lyrics that are moving for anyone going through that quarter-life-crisis.  What have you done, anyway?  We love the new single, but with such a well composed introductory full length, at about this same time last year, Sharpless has a lot of living-up to do.

The Epoch

The Epoch by Various Artists   (February 15, 2012) *

The Epoch is a new arts collective working out of New York organized by musicians, visual artists and writers.  Their first compilation, featuring the groups audio line-up, boasts a grassroots indie rock aesthetic reinvented for 2012.  With some longtime Dingus favorites like Sharpless, Small Wonder and Eskimeaux, the free download is worth that cover to cover listen.

Sharpless

Potentially gearing up for a new album, Greenleaf releases a video close to the heart.  Also, we bring you a live performance from our favorite venue, a basement.

Sharpless

Sharpless by Jack Greenleaf   (February 27, 2011)

Often reminding me of Desaparecidos, the new Jack Greenleaf album titled Sharpless is strong and passionate; an honest gem of the genre.
