When discussing “chill-wave” or “dream-pop” or “cloud-rock”, my empirical senses seem to be overwhelmed by a mixed bag of emotions, spurred by epic moments that expand into space. Coincidentally, it isn’t proficiency, or even ability that makes me stop and pay attention with these genres, it it purely the ability to draw connections between traditional structures (the things I subconsciously know and am attracted too) and modern timbres (the things that make me think my choice is contemporary).
