Dois Depois

Dois Depois by Luís Formiga   (Porto, Portugal) *

Last time we checked in with Formiga he was releasing his self title bandcamp debut, a piece of beauty from a foreign land (at least to us).  Now, a year later, Luis releases his sophomore EP stepping forward once again to present a neatly captured audio package.  Wrapped in finely plucked guitars, the vocalist preserves his traditional methods as he unwinds a record that feels, above all, deeply personal and touched with living experience.  @Dingusonmusic

Colourgrind

Colourgrind by Lady Inferno   (Porto, Portugal)

Sonically surreal, Lady Inferno delivers his fourth EP, the first for public consumption with confidence and stride.  Layering a chopped vocal play, the producer has rebounded sounds off one another to create a playful environment that has a special way of separating itself for security.  Colourgrind is subtle, often sparse but overall, warm and friendly.  [Free Download]  @Dingusonmusic

West – East

West – East by Saitam   (Porto, Portugal) *

Often producers are afraid to do things like cut entire instrumental sections at half measures, leaving only the beat.  Often it’s because they dont feel comfortable enough about any singular part to let it stand, firmly, on its own.  Not Saitam.  West – East has all those lovable epic moments we cherish while still paying close attention, as a composer, to each twig.  The summation of the part is, no doubt, beautiful, but is something that can only be achieved with careful dedication and preparation.  The truth is that this album, similar to the individual songs, is a collection of movements more powerful united, than as singles.  Dingus

Frozen Caravels

Frozen Caravels by Equations   (March 26, 2012)

When binding the line between inventive hardcore and cheesy emo it’s imperative to stay away from being classified to anything that a thesaurus might align with “whiny”.  Equations, without fail, let their guttural jerks dominate their bleeding hearts, splashing in waves of subgenre that keeps Frozen Caravels feeling fresh and nostalgic the entire way through.  Dingus
