New Cull VIII

This past week I’ve been talking, a lot, about an event we call New Cull – last night was number 8.  It’s a special little gathering put together by the esteemed Evan Shinners and my very own Meme Movement with a unique little twist: there’s no way you’re getting in.  New Cull is an exclusive event, for performers, by performers, where every member of the audience has, or will play at the event.  It’s in this quiet little apartment, transformed into art space, that some of the most progressive, forward thinking artists of our generation come together to showcase new ideas, get drunk, and goof off.  As always, the night began with a Shinners poem, setting a mood intrinsic to the gathering; a satirical darkness, a laughable seriousness.  And from that moment on, well, I’ll let the videos do the talking.  We were graced with performances by (in order of video) The Jesse Scheinin Band, Michael Thurber, and Adrianne Lenker.
