Soulbound V.8

Soulbound Volume Eight by Various Artists   (March 31, 2012) *

Out monthly collection is back.  Soulbound Eight features some of our favorite songs from the blog this past March and some older as well.  Starting off with an Australian favorite, Post Paint and ending on the concluding notes of The Rare Plants Garden, the compilation holds no standard genre or format.  Instead, view it as a whimsical journey through the global DIY scene.  We’d like to thank all the bands involved for helping us put this together.  As always, it’s free for download off our bandcamp.

Our Wake / Memorand

Our Wake / Memorand by Ouisa Hound   (March 5, 2012) *

The latest two-track from Joseph Randolph, mastermind behind experimental composition unit, Ouisa Hound, conjures memories of heaven.  In one way, this piece is what a more reserved, classical Animal Collective might produce.  Compositions built on synchronized loops- with a traditional tone and lush atmosphere, for a complete change of pace.  Our Wake/Memorand takes advantage of saturation in a completely original way, using it to appear distant  and detached rather than affected.

The Joy Eclectic

The Joy Eclectic by Ouisa Hound   (February 6, 2012) *

The Joy Eclectic is an album that brings pop guitar tones out of their shell, infusing them with some sort of interpretive dance that leaps in slow motion from track to track.  Ouisa Hound takes special care in setting the stage, giving each song it’s own world to inhabit. As a whole, the album stays true to itself, never trying too hard to please any one aesthetic in particlar, but rather, emoting a self-inflicted depth that truly, is cavernous.
