Ghost Ease

NAC_3-Panel_JcardTemplate_FRONTGhost Ease by Ghost Ease   (Portland, Oregon)

Take a breath, be cool, Ghost Ease are here to calm things down. Ghost Ease have brought us their self titled album in the form of goth rock. Things are a little smoother, a little more harmonious and very dark. It’s a great fistful of songs sure to set your ears on fire and get your heart racing. Have a listen. @LeahLovecat

Waking Nervous

Waking Nervous by We Miss The Earth   (Portland, Oregon)

Every once in a while I come across an album that I feel I must have, that I need to put onto my iPod. Waking Nervous is an album that I definitely need to download. We Miss The Earth have written some dark and infectious post-punk tracks. I get sick of those kitschy pop bands. They’re good for a little while but then you start to feel the after effects of their poor substance. We Miss The Earth have delivered a substantial teaser (all tracks are off their upcoming LP) that has wet my palate for future releases. @LeahLovecat

Staying Is Nowhere

Staying is Nowhere by Andreas Brandal   (Portland, Oregon)

There’s no better way to start my day than with a package full of physical submissions (from Field Hymns).  The only reasons we at Dingus tolerate anything but, is because we understand that the DIY scene is an emerging scene- without full resources.  But, tonight I had the pleasure of coming home, and popping on the pit of snakes that is the atmospheric jest we now know as Andreas Brandal (real persons name or not).  Pulsing on a miniscule scale, tiny flutters and dramatic washes define the soundscape keeping the listener alive in an otherwise dead as dirt world.  From start to finish, Staying is Nowhere is a prime example of DIY ambience, marksmanship and verisimilitude.  @Dingusonmusic

Octagonal Wax

Octagonal Wax by Oxykitten   (Portland, Oregon)

It’s almost ironic how Octagonal Wax begins with a smooth jazz-type progression that repeats itself intensely, making the exact counter-statement with timbre in regards to melody.  Oxykitten, one of the releasing artists from Field Hymn Records, has assembled a collection of electronic tracks that feel like a retro take on today, like the Jetsons.  @Dingusonmusic

Ghost Vibrations

Ghost Vibrations by Foreign Orange   (Portland, Oregon)

Portland disco rat, Foreign Orange not only found the one word that sort of rhymes with orange, but now, has released a smile-inducing dance album that ironically decorates violent metaphors with living personality.  Turning around with classic disco structures, Ghost Vibrations is as intuitive as it is uncontrollable, forcing itself to fade out often, rather than jam into infiniti.  [Free Download]  Dingus

Lakeswimmer

Lakeswimmer by Jewellers   (Newport, Oregon)

Feeling a lot like old school Flowers for Reagan (now unavailable), Lakeswimmer is an electronic stutter that robotically arranges its epileptic attacks around a centralized focal point- the late introduction, the melodic intervention and the harmonic underpinning.  In other words, when right when you’re about to say “this is repetitive and derivative”, the song tosses a late change-up demonstrating consciousness in ever tonal discussion.  Dingus
