Disaster Sounds

Disaster Sounds by Kid/Astro   (Boston, Massachusetts)

Released their debut album Disaster Sounds on cassette via their own independent label Seagreen Records. We’re gonna have to come up with a new name for this subgenre of pop rock besides lo-fi or surf or noise rock or punk soft. With all these super high vocals layered triple or quadruple times over one another. Dirty live amp sounds, was it poorly recorded or was it poorly recorded? Noise pop is pretty good. Anyhow Kid/Astro fits right in there.  Disaster Sounds has a nice fuzz. The totally popped out high male vocals don’t grab me as much as the grunged out guitars. Pretty good pop punk feel, the band is solid, the songs drive themselves forward hard, would be fun to check out this Boston band live. @CigaretteBreath

We Are Not The Same

We Are Not The Same by Lux   (Seattle, Washington) *

Stumbling across Lux was quite possibly the best thing that could’ve happened on a Tuesday night. We Are Not The Same is a soundtrack for lust and late night escapades. This EP is absolutely sweeping from start to finish. It’s lush without being too dreamy and dark without being too moody. Lux are a two piece band consisting of a boy/girl combination (David & Leah), both providing equal parts noise and beat. I feel that there is so much emotion lying within each second that plays and I’m more than willing to soak it up. Lovecat
