Chocolate Pudding

3383609090-1Chocolate Pudding by No Shoes   (New York, New York)

More erratic than ever, No Shoes comes back after announcing hiatus with a new double single entitled, Chocolate Pudding- what ever happened to that hiatus? Vocals tinted with anthem-esque vibrations are softly mixed into the sea of guitar chatter that takes it’s lead from spastic math rock.  The title track might take a minute to get going, but once it does, not unlike ‘Spitting Venom’, it refuses to stop as it builds and builds, feigning momentary lapse in intensity to catch you off guard with intense power. The Kitchen (Free & Easy)

This weekend The Snake Records and Dingus are joined once again by the great Mama Coco’s Funky Kitchen for an evening of splendid music.  Presenting:  The Great American Novel, No Shoes, Basal Gang, The Gradients, and Iced Ink.  I get the feeling that they’ll all be releasing some sort of new music but I’m not quite sure why our events site isn’t up and running right now.  The URL will shortly be: nighsociety.org.

For those of you who have been following us for the past year, this is the re-birth of The Meme Movement, which was 3 years ago, a design service.  Join us this weekend in celebrating life.  It’s always free, it’s always all ages.  Come early for happy hour, stay late for the tentatively scheduled orgy- drink beer cause you can and get down with some of the most authentic DIY music that this fine, fine piece of ass we call a city has.  [Facebook Event]  @Dingusonmusic

+ TONIGHT: Join the crew from A Mini Tribe for what is always a party, and sometimes a riot, at Muchmore’s “Back to School” [Facebook Event]

Last Night in Photos

Last night was our second event working together with the Meme Movement.  We curated a long list of bands for Fresh Arrest and wanted to extend our warm gratitude to all the musicians (Itchy Hearts, No Shoes, Large Lady, Newport Reds, Sitting Ducks, The Jean Jackets), technicians, sponsors, bartenders, security and other staff involved (especially the venue).  We’d also like to thank everyone who showed up to the show.  You might not realize it, but without your participation and support, the NYC live music scene is dead.  We hope you were sufficiently drunk.  Here are a few photos from the night, shot by Maverick Inman of Mavy Entertainment and Meme:

Fresh Arrest is Today

Yes, this is easily going to be the best thing going on in NYC tonight.  Yes, you are still welcome at our party.  No, you cannot shit in the porta potties.

Itchy Hearts, No Shoes, Large Lady, Newport Reds, Sitting Ducks, The Jean Jackets. And all the booze you can handle.  Fifteen bucks gets you in on the all night open bar.

Soulbound V.4

Soulbound Volume Four by Various Artists   (November 30, 2011) *

Last night, we released the fourth installment of our compilation series, Soulbound.  We’d like to thank all the artists involved, artists who are helping build a wonderful record of our generations musical ventures.  Starting with Secret Mommy and ending on NAPS, every song carries it’s own weight.  As always, it’s free.

Cow Drawings EP

Cow Drawings EP by No Shoes   (October 15, 2011)

With a completely lacking aesthetic, No Shoes presents a wonderfully fulfilling indie take on math rock that moves quickly from troubled crawl to frantic panic. Breaking out into a jam that most bands would be hardpreses to copy, the Cow Drawings EP is a testament.
