Dreams Come True Recap

We’d like to thank all who attended this weekends event, Dreams Come True.  We’d like to thanks the bands:  Porches, Nelsonvillains, Battle Ave, and Year on a Mountain, for putting on an amazing show.  And, we’d especially like to thank the ever-gracious Freecandy for welcoming us in with open arms for what will, hopefully, be the beginnings of a beautiful summer.  Here are a few pictures from the event, as promised.  Be sure to check out the next one. TONIGHT – DREAMS COME TRUE

Tonight, our beloved partnership with Meme Movement is about to pay up yet again for you show-goers.  Only two weeks fresh from our last showcase, the next event will feature headlining heroes, Porches supported by one of my personal favorite line-ups; a line up that I’ve had the distinct pleasure of booking.  Year on a Mountain, Viva Mayday, Battle Ave and Nelsonvillains will be striving for enlightenment from the time the doors open (at 830pm), assuring a night of powerful indie rock to help frame that dangerous ego.  Join us, as we break in one of Brooklyn’s finest venues, Freecandy, and remember, it’s always free admission before 930pm, at our shows ($5 after).  Make sure to invite your friends – don’t let live music die.  Dingus

Nelsonvillains Van Fundraiser

The New Paltz indie rock scene is one of our favorites, and the Nelsonvillains are one of the best in it.  We normally wouldn’t report on a show so locally oriented, but if you’re in the area, drop by Oasis and help them fund what every band needs, a van.  With such a nobel cause, and an excellent supporting line-up including, but not limited to, the Newport Reds, what better way to spend your night than listening to some good, live music.  Get all the details here.

Dreams Come True [Sneak Peek]

I thought I’d offer my loyal readers an early look at the next show flyer from the Meme Movement.  Last show (Blue Blood), we had over 700 of the most beautiful people in the world show up to support their local DIY musicians.  The love was unparalleled and felt so deeply that we couldn’t wait to book the next one. The entire team, here at Dingus, has a crush on you, and only you.

My God, My Father (Sunday’s Best)

‘My God, My Father’ by Nelsonvillains   (October 6, 2011)

Honestly, Nelsonvillains are my favorite act out the New Paltz area, a music scene that does not disappoint.  Naturally, I was fairly psyched for the release of their full length, Our Evil Inside Joke, and now I’d like to share one of my favorite tracks off the album. The contradicting ‘My God, My Father’.

Our Evil Inside Joke (Best New Music)

Our Evil Inside Joke by Nelsonvillains   (October 6, 2011) *

Nelsonvillains reminds me, as they do so often, what a you can accomplish with a few guitars, bass and drums.  We’ve become so deepply embedded within the technology, that most of us have forgotten what really impresses our musical subconscious.  Jake Harms and his soldiers give up their powerful debut LP, Our Evil Inside Joke, and exhibit every rotten angst moment our generation has ever felt with twisted guitars, aggressive vocals and a pacing that, while dynamic, sprints from cover to cover.  As powerful as This is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About, let’s not forget to point out its compositional character as well.

To commemorate the coming storm it seems Nelsonvillains have opened up their facebook page.

Sounds of Summer (Best New Music)

Sounds of Summer by Nelsonvillains   (May 21, 2011)

Jake Harms, front man of Nelsonvillains, is a rough motherfucker.  He’s coarse, heavy handed and head strong.  Fortunately for him, it’s exactly these qualities that makes him one of the best voices in the bedroom soul scene.  Like the young soul of Isaac Brock commandeered his body, the Sounds of Summer dual single download is pack loaded with emotion.
