Indianapolis

Slothpop by Slothpop   (Indianapolis, Indiana) *

Tenderly setting the branches in place, Slothpops self-titled debut conjures images of burning witches ablaze for the fallacy of security- for me at least.  There’s something delicate, something carefully assembled that we can focus on here, that we can destroy, that the band does destroy progressively through 10 tracks of emblematic pop rock infused with thought.  It isn’t the traditional structure which exists, without a doubt, it isn’t the friendly pop demeener, yet Slothpop has delivered personality in heaps.  @Dingusonmusic

Big Mode

Big Mode by Modern Motion   (Indianapolis, Indiana)

Modern Motion have released a synthy/new wave EP and have titled it Big Mode. Their music is a bit of everything. It’s neither fast nor slow, sad or happy. It’s in between. That’s what I like about it. There is time to think it through, think through the lyrics, what they mean and what they stand for. Modern Motion sing songs of falling apart and being lovesick. Those two seem to go hand in hand and the Indianapolis band have done an excellent job at showcasing these all too familiar emotions. Lovecat
