Recap: Number 20

This past weekend we celebrated our twentieth free DIY event here in NYC with Dead Stars, Eastern Hollows, Happy Lives, Hubbell Mountain and Kings.  We’d like to thank the bands for playing, it’s always an extreme honor to have musicians work with us to put together these amazing events at no cost to the show-goer.  The morning of the show, Happy Lives lost their drummer to a UPS job- and maybe for the best, because later the same night the, now duo, put on a live performance that out shined all previous engagements with a lose creative energy that rallied the crowd.  The night rang true from the acoustic introduction provided by Kings through the powerful rock performance from Dead Stars.  Hubbell Mountain put on a show that, in this writers opinion, looks more and more professional with each passing set and Easter Hollows blessed the Dingus/Snake stage for the first time.  We’d like to thank the venue, Freecandy.  The space has been a second home for our blog and is proclaimed by many as one of the best new DIY spots in the city.  Dingus would also like to introduce our new show photographer, Adhat Sampos; enjoy the new photographic perspective. @Dingusonmusic

Tonight / Free / FORTITUDE / All Ages

We do it nearly every weekend people- Tonight is yet another COMPLETELY FREE, 100% All-Ages event at Muchmored’s in the northern sector of Old Williamsburg.  @L0pat0‘s the resident DJ and with a Happy Lives, Hubbell Mountain, Butter the Children and Flowers for Reagan‘s Reaganomics pitching performances, the night wont be forgotten.  Happy hour’s two for one deal should get you drunk enough and the Soju cocktails will insure the bad decisions. In which case we hope you don’t remember.  [Facebook Event]  @Dingusonmusic  @L0pat0

FORTITUDE (Free & Easy)

As we grow, so do our live events because you, our favorite reader, need the weekends for drinking.  Come down to Muchmore’s this Saturday (N9th and Havemeyer, Brooklyn) to catch Happy Lives, Hubbell Mountain, Butter the Children, and Flowers for Reagan (who is digging deep, returning to bring you Reaganomics, his earliest career hit as an electronic warm up that comes full circle via the headliner).  It’s free, it’s all ages, there’s a cash bar and we love doing happy hour (2 for 1).  Join us for a night of audio bliss and pleasant company.  [Facebook Event]  @Dingusonmusic

Soulbound V.12

Soulbound Volume Twelve by Various Artists   (New York, New York) *

Marking the one year anniversary of our free DIY compilation series, Soulbound Volume Twelve includes some of our very favorites among some of the newest gems from the community.  With tracks from veterans Basic Printer, Kick Snare Leave and Seabiscuit, the compilation is one of my personal favorites.  With more songs fit to be called “singles” than ever before, we at the Dingus office are sure you’ll love it.  The best part?  It’s completely free courtesy of all the talented musicians involved.  Head to our Bandcamp page and get the latest for your late summer travels.  [Free Download]  @Dingusonmusic

Silent Pilot

Silent Pilot EP by Hubbell Mountain  (Connecticut)

Silent Pilot, the debut EP from Connecticut’s Hubbell Mountain is, for the most part, a large rhythmic shuffle infused with tangible melodies and fleeting vocal lines.  The album, a set of songs constantly in search, takes flimsy structures and solidifies them with powerful third parties offering a unique dynamic.  [Free Download]  Dingus
