This past weekend we celebrated our twentieth free DIY event here in NYC with Dead Stars, Eastern Hollows, Happy Lives, Hubbell Mountain and Kings. We’d like to thank the bands for playing, it’s always an extreme honor to have musicians work with us to put together these amazing events at no cost to the show-goer. The morning of the show, Happy Lives lost their drummer to a UPS job- and maybe for the best, because later the same night the, now duo, put on a live performance that out shined all previous engagements with a lose creative energy that rallied the crowd. The night rang true from the acoustic introduction provided by Kings through the powerful rock performance from Dead Stars. Hubbell Mountain put on a show that, in this writers opinion, looks more and more professional with each passing set and Easter Hollows blessed the Dingus/Snake stage for the first time. We’d like to thank the venue, Freecandy. The space has been a second home for our blog and is proclaimed by many as one of the best new DIY spots in the city.
