a2585712259_10Friends Of The Year’ by Pageantry   (Denton, Texas)

Pageantry have released a heck of a great single. ‘Friends Of The Year’ is folk pop straight out of Texas and I can see why it has been called “the most promising track to come out of Denton”. Its a sweet track with sweeping math rock qualities sure enough to catch your ear. This is a song for every man, woman and child. @LeahLovecat

Desire 願う {Spazzkid}

a3636585160_10Desire 願う by Spazzkid   (Los Angeles, California)

As I listen to Desire 願う I grow increasingly impressed. How has an electronic/abstract pop album grasped me so tightly by the neck? There is something cool about this that is a little out of the ordinary. Its abstract for the masses, its not something you get turned off by, you’re drawn to the beats. Spazzkid has a really interesting way of mixing light and dark, his music always flows in a sharp way. Its really elegant and bold. @LeahLovecat

The Beauty Song {Visualkarma}

Has my heart turn soft? It seems that way. Don’t worry, I’m still always on the look for the latest and greatest in rock and roll but every once in a while, I need something a little softer. ‘The Beauty Song’ is just what I’m looking for. It’s beautiful dream pop that echoes through your head like a million siren calls. It makes me want to grab my blue tinted mason jar full of ginger ale and take my work day outside. You know, that doesn’t sound half bad. @LeahLovecat

Fox Tales {Creature Comfort}

This is a little sweeter than the stuff I’m used to but everyone can do with a little sweet every now and then. There is a calm cool about Fox Tales that draws you in. Perhaps it’s the use of tambourines or indulgent guitars but whatever it is, its there and its beautiful. Maybe we don’t always need garage rock and Creature Comfort have given us an example of what else we should be listening to. @LeahLovecat

Lisa {Plastic Rabbits}

Plastic Rabbits have released a pop rock single about a girl at a bar. The song titles ‘Lisa’ tells the ever relatable story about meeting someone who turns out to only be not what you though or expected. But, you’re ok with that because you didn’t care in the first place. The Leeds 5 piece have effortlessly crafted something familiar and hand it over wrapped in rock and roll. Did I mention that you can download it for free? [Free Download]

Hot Tub Hoagie Boys comes to us from Columbus based Bummers. It’s beachy garage rock that sounds crisp and ready for sun exposure.As I listen more it seems as if the band have a bit of an Oasis influence. I can totally hear that style mixed in with a more fuzzy vibe. This isn’t something to pass up. Its perfected garage rock and it remains exceedingly cool. @LeahLovecat

High & Tight {Primitive Hearts}

With an album cover looking like it came straight out of Ghost World , Primitive Hearts have truly released a little piece of magic. High & Tight is California garage rock pounding straight from your speakers and it’s not to be taken lightly. Please, cool your jets and take the time out of your “busy” schedule to listen to this album in full. It deserves your undivided attention. @LeahLovecat

Elephant Stone

Elephant Stone’s self titled album is made up of pop and rock, summer rays and ice cream cones. It’s the stuff you wish for when you think of the hazy days that wait for you. June, July and August are going to be filled with the sounds of Elephant Stone, a sort of updated version of The Shins, if you may. It’s about time someone decided to give this genre an upgrade. @LeahLovecat
