Summer’s Dead

‘Summer’s Dead’ by Eastern Hollows   (Brooklyn, NY)

If global warming has got you a little a confused about the time of year, Eastern Hollows wants to remind you that ‘Summer’s Dead.’ But it’s not all bad news. Like the tracks off of their Days Ahead EP, covered here, this single has a depth and maturity you don’t often find in shoegaze. Perhaps because it’s a crossbreed with a British psych pop sound and anything British is inherently on the classy end of things. More likely it’s dedicated studio time that brings about their layered, but concise sound. Look for their first LP to drop in the near, near future. @AshleyCanino

Days Ahead

Days Ahead EP by Eastern Hollows   (Brooklyn, New York)

Eastern Hollows makes good use of guitar timbres that many modern musicians have given up on to craft a rock album that plays humbly to an underlying musicianship that stands to impress.  Days Ahead is a five track EP that plays to a few key indie components, among them, a patient reservation for instrumental entrances and exits.  Creatively pacing a traditional sound leads the group to produce this successful piece of contemporary drag that packs personality into its climax.  @Dingusonmusic
