Why Not Just Be Solo

2532202176-1Why Not Just Be Solo by Lebanon Hanover   (United Kingdom)

Woah. I just can’t get over how great this album is. “Stunning” may just be the word needed for this. Why Not Just Be Solo is a collection of deep and dark post-punk tracks that will consume your soul. It’s romantic in a way, maybe because it’s so dark. Either way, this is something that cannot be ignored. I strongly suggest you have a listen and download if you can. you’re gonna want this one on file. @LeahLovecat

Wild Legend

Wild Legend by SandCastle   (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

Wild Legend had me dancing hypnotically in my bed. I’m sure it was a sight to behold, however, I was definitely put into a dark trance by SandCastle. So, if anything, I blame them. I can’t get over how deeply I fell in love with this album in such a short period of time. The male/female vocals in perfect harmony along with the dark themes were incredibly bewitching. I almost wish I could go back 10 minutes in time just so that I could listen to Wild Legend for the first time, again. Then again, if I were to do that, I wouldn’t have proclaimed my devotion for this album. I’ll just leave time travel to the experts. @LeahLovecat

Lore City

Lore City by Lore City   (Ithaca, New York)

Lore City have crafted an absolutely beautiful album. It’s spacey and dark but somehow doesn’t leave your soul murky. These moody ballads are sure to stir up every emotion lurking beneath your rib cage. After listening to songs like ‘Keep’ or ‘Treasure’, you feel enlightened and sort of separated from humanity. Like watching the world from another angle. It’s quite the feeling and it’s one we should all experience, especially when it’s provided through a source of music. @LeahLovecat

The Fresh Sum

The Fresh Sum by Mittenfields   (Washington D.C.)

I couldn’t believe the full sound that came echoing out of my laptop as I listened to Mittenfields, The Fresh Sum. This album is such a fresh alternative to the lo-fi/shoegaze that seems to be very popular these days. It’s an album that you can feel rushing through your veins, moving through your limbs and mixing up your senses. It’s loud and wonderful, a supersonic boom enough to wake up your sleeping soul. All that’s left for you to do is listen. @LeahLovecat

A Little Reminder

Fists of Love by Fists of Love   (Cincinnati, Ohio)

I am a huge fan of Fists of Love self titled album. Fists of Love have brought back rock and roll. That raw, dark rock that you meditate on in the middle of your room. I feel their music digging deep into my inner self and shaking it up. Fists of Love are so angsty and every once in a while, I like to tap into that part of myself. Lovecat @LeahLovecat

Cos(mos)

Cos(mos) by Gran Noir   (Lyon, France) *

This spiteful electronica album quickly goes from curiously disturbed to disgustingly alive- Cos(mos) is an unbreakable speed-dubbed dance album that stands up to the dirtiest dance music around like a 25rd century machine. Holding on to Shining-esque scehemes, the four track EP from ENFANCE Records actually answers more questions than it asks as it pulls together oddly shopped beats intelligently- constantly resolving.  Dingus

Focus Then The Dark Green

‘Focus Then The Dark Green’ by Adonikam   (January 23, 2012) *

I could not have described this release more astutely than the manager of The Snake did in his facebook status update for the track:

“A bastard robot child of metal and beats. Reminiscent of proto-dubstep pioneers Vex’d and the chopped and highly processed bass lines of Excision but more progressive in structure. This track keeps us in a dark entrancement as it takes us on a journey through a twisted industrial landscape, complete with heavy metal, malfunctioning hardware, and a moment of bliss. HARDCORE!” – Ben Spinrad
