The Golden Calf (Free & Easy)

Bitches, tonight we’re doing it up at Freecandy once again with young, talented, forceful Napoleon closing us out.  With experimental mad man Mark Fletcher, playing as Newport Reds and Zomber, starting us off tonight promises to be, at the very least, sloppy.  Stuck with the heavy lifting, expect big sets from Carroll, The Great American Novel and Exitpost in the interim.  Come, dance, drink, live, love, roll around and get messy.  [Facebook Event]  Join us for our 8 – 10 gallery opening, presenting Turning Thirty by James Eggleston.  @Dingusonmusic

THE GOLDEN CALF (Free & Easy)

This friday night, join us at Freecandy for yet another free DIY show presented by ourselves and our friends over at The Snake Records.  We’ve been at it for a while and as things grow we are proud to bring you our continuous stream of live entertainment.  This time, come check out Napoleon who will be playing the headlining slot along with Carroll, The Great American Novel, Exitpost and the Newport Reds.  James Eggleston will be displaying a collection of painting in the gallery so come early, drink up, pass judgement and maybe, just maybe, purchase some art.  @Dingusonmusic

Tonight! The Jean Jackets Release a Record / Everyone Get Drunk at Muchmore’s

Well last night I went to bed around 8am.  Now it’s three in the afternoon on a show day and the juices are flowing as I climb out from under the sheets because today is Sour Stash.  Dingus has been teaming up with The Snake to bring you free DIY shows all year and it’s Harvey Eyeballs‘ time to run some thunder.  The Jean Jackets will be co-headlining and releasing their record- a record recorded at the famous Mama Coco’s Funky Kitchen.  This morning, the first single leaked on their basists Soundcloud site and on the bands tumblr; an old track we know from demo but easily one of my favorites ‘Myth of Sisyphus‘ shows off a puffed chest while letting individuality shine within insecurity.  Alfonso Velez and Carroll will be opening the show starting at 930pm but be sure to get their early, you’ll want to nurture that buzz for the first set.  [Facebook Event@Dingusonmusic

The Snake (January 2012)

With the new year, comes a new set of digital singles from The Snake.  The tracks all range in genre and boast diverse geographic origins.  Briefly, I would like to take the time, now, to present January’s collection.  Everyone at The Snake would like to extend a warm thank you to the artists involved and to the readers.

Walk in the Park

‘Walk in the Park’ by Carroll   (December 9, 2011) *

Lately, one of our favorite locals, Gabe Wax has been perfecting his craft with a series of covers, the most recent of which is ‘Walk in the Park’, a Beach House song.  In my opinion it’s better than the original.

EP (Best New Music)

EP by Carroll   (October 11, 2011) *

“I’m just like jigga, but I’m white, so now my album’s blue” – I think that quoting that line should be enough, but in case it’s not:  Carroll is, oh God I hate this word, singing with the swag that Oddfuture desperately tries to emulate.  It’s that old-time swagger, that I’ve been around the block, kind of swagger.  You know what else?  It’s free.  Everything about this untitled EP shines in a way that I didn’t think music could anymore.  Both Roger Kleinman and Gabe Wax get a virtual handshake.
