Fake Virtue

2203939064-1Fake Virtue by Monokino   (Amsterdam)

Fake Virtue is an album mixed in electric love and pop wonder. Monokino had me on the fence for about 5 seconds. I was unsure about whether or not I was going to enjoy this album but I was proved wrong very, very early. The Amsterdam based band are quite the delight, a treat for your very ears and a lightening bolt to your senses. Fake Virtue got me excited about whats potentially out there in the world. You mean, not everything is shoegaze? Thank goodness. @LeahLovecat

Live Forever

2007628932-1Live Forever by Adam & The Relevants   (Amsterdam)

Adam & The Relevants have captured my full attention with ‘Live Forever‘. It’s a track thats not just catchy but gives you the itch to get up and move. You want to hop off your bed and dance around your room, jump up and down, give yourself a neck ache. To me, this is what it’s all about. It’s about listening to a band and thinking, “I need to see them live”.  It’s not about listening to something to feel smart, it’s about listening to something that makes you want to go to a small little room, pack in with a hundred other people and bounce around like its the last chance you’ll ever get. Thanks Adam & The Relevants, you get “it”. @LeahLovecat

Mystify

Mystify by Dream Lava   (Amsterdam)

I’ll be honest, I don’t always go for electronic music. Every now and then, sure, but not always. As I sat down to go through my nightly listening on the newest music to get uploaded, I came across Dream Lava. I immediately through whatever I had thought about electro out the window. Mystify is a bite size dream and considering the fact that this is such a new project, I am even more impressed. Dream Lava is a solo project out of Amsterdam and the minimal beats are just enough to make your head bob and for you to hit the ‘download’ button. [Free Download] Lovecat

The Flood

The Flood EP by The Shining   (January 1, 2012)

Stereotypical indie rock is no challenge to find in the self releasing world, in fact the problem is the drastic degradation of these hopes and dream.  But, The Shining’s first solo record, The Flood, in principle, is everything intrinsically opposite of the opportunity starved pop artist. Dingus
