An Invitation To Love

An Invitation to Love by An Blonds   (Manchester)

The first track ‘Honesty’ got me curious.  It’s gotta nice R&B feel on top of some electro pop.  The toy piano gives the verses a playful sensibility.    The recording sounds straight from the record player scratched and vocal’s wavy.  It’s sort of all of over the place stylistically, bringing to mind various genres.  It makes sense that it’s a solo act, that it’s layered by one person together on a computer. I dug some of the other tracks too– the electric ‘Quiet’ and the Brit Pop ‘Currents’.  An alternative band from Manchester, An Blonds is tight pop electro alt dance band, released by Twisted Tape Recordings. The Invisible Hand

‘The Invisible Hand’ by Leisure   (January 8, 2012)

I guess we’ll soon learn to accept that with the exponential expansivity of the internet we’re bound to have a few doubles.  Regardless, the latest Leisure that I’ve stumbled upon has truly put a rutilant smile on my face.  ’The Invisible Hand‘ is the kind of solid rock that delivers positive vibes all over.  Contextually, the band seems more concerned with maintaining the moment rather than making drastic dramatics.

Greater Than

‘Greater Than’ by Sharpless   (February 27, 2012) *

With machine-gun style drum rolls, ‘Greater Than‘ thunders its way into your heart with a set of lyrics that are moving for anyone going through that quarter-life-crisis.  What have you done, anyway?  We love the new single, but with such a well composed introductory full length, at about this same time last year, Sharpless has a lot of living-up to do.
