About A Boy

408399863-1‘About A Boy’ by Katty Winne   (Maceió, Brazil)

Katty Winne reminds me of nearly every female fronted grungy band in the 90′s. This is a very cool thing. ‘About A Boy‘ is a love song of sorts, talking about a girl and a boy and only having each other. It’s sweet without being to saturated in happy go lucky lyrics, which can typically be the case for love songs. This has a little more guts, its not at all wimpy and I like it that way. @LeahLovecat

Color Theory

2109473891-1‘Color Theory’ by Tea Leigh & Luke Reed   (Brooklyn, New York)

I’m absolutely, hopelessly in love with this. It’s a little wander from the stuff I usually post but every once in a while it’s nice to deviate from my garage rock path. ‘Color Theory‘ is soft and dreamy but has a certain kick to it that makes it irresistible. Once you start to listen, you’ll begin pushing the repeat button. This is something to enjoy, so stop taking pictures of your bagel (you know you don’t need it anyway) and give your full, undivided attention to Tea Leigh & Luke Reed. As an added bonus, I decided to stream the Pleasure Curses remix. It’s, to put it mildly, very good. @LeahLovecat

Entropic

1146581598-1‘Entropic’ by Coastal Cities   (United Kingdom)

Coastal Cities’ video for ‘Entropic’ is absolutely infectious. It’s nearly impossible not to succumb to it’s catchy Brit pop sound. It’s one of those songs you play throughout your house, volume on high, and dance like it’s the last chance you’re ever going to get. Repeat forever, please. @LeahLovecat

99% Chance feat. Jadon Woodard

avatars-000025333289-81dl2n-t500x500’99% Chance feat. Jadon Woodard’ by Flowers For Reagan   (Brooklyn, New York)

Flowers for Reagan comes off a confusing set of deeply disturbed electronic tracks that registered as pop, somehow with a hip hop track that keeps all the elements that have come to signify Pruss’ work.  ’99% Chance‘ relies as heavily as a track can on its musical parts in comparison to its sung verse and comes to a disjarring place that tosses my words.  Somehow the track, although perfectly coherent, takes your pacing out and forces you to rearrange things searching for reality.  There is something possessive about this track.  Something very, very strange.  @Dingusonmusic

Daydream

the-new-regimeDaydream by The New Regime   (San Diego, CA)

Things are happening very fast for Ilan Rubin aka The New Regime. With his latest album still awaiting release, this once working drummer is quickly realizing sometimes it is better to take things into your own hands. Having spent a lot of time and energy playing for groups like Paramore and Nine Inch Nails, this solo endeavor is clearly a true representation of the real Rubin. Heavily produced with electronic instruments among many others, every decibel of sound was created and delivered by Ilan, who has also proven himself as a solid frontman. Sample what this guy has been brewing here today, an eerie pop electronica track that makes me want to throw on some Depeche Mode. @thinknotsleep

Overdone / Eclipse

artworks-000046251810-gcmozx-t500x500‘Overdone’ & ‘Eclipse’ by AtariLife   (Cleveland, Ohio)

I’ll fuck anything Andrea makes.  So when AtariLife started following us on Soundcloud- my cock jumped at the immediate stamp of perfection that the young Parisian producer leaves. I knew it before I read it.  I’m that good.  Well anyone that’s got Andrea on their side, surely has me on their side as well.  So for the R&B moments that were often eluded to, but missed in the instrumental arrangements and remixes of the prodigal musician- here’s ‘Overdone‘ and ‘Eclipse‘.  It’s AtariLife that brings humanity’s touch to the ring.  It’s like Drake, but good.  ”Easy is Overdone” [Free Download@Dingusonmusic

501c(3)

305201680-1’501c(3)’ by Fuck Explorer   (Long Island, New York)

Drifting in an aimless position, this Long Island bred, Animal Collective inspired project takes a more potent aim at funk structures than their influences would with regards for a structural integrity that holds constant throughout the general mood shifts that dictate movement throughout the track.  It’s a pleasant start for diving into the work of Fuck Explorer.  Linning up parts in an ABC fashion without reprise means that it reads like prose, learning from the past and adjusting for the future.  In the very least, ‘501c(3)‘ is a pivotal moment in their discography that defines an honest memory connection. Floating Feather

1700524340-1Floating Feather by Fox and The Bird   (Dallas, TX)

I think it’s safe to say that I experienced Fox and The Bird as they should be for the first time, live and unplugged in both a backyard BBQ and a living room in Austin, TX. Leaving downtown Austin during SXSW and joining this band among numerous other talents for a BBQ was quite possibly my favorite memory of the week; great food, even better people and music all night at a quaint Texas home. Fox and The Bird were playing minus their female vocal element but the guys held down every song as well as any folk trio ever could, ‘Floating Feather’ being a song that stuck with me all the way home to Brooklyn. @thinknotsleep

Wishing Machine

504139415-1‘Wishing Machine’ by nytyly   (Brooklyn, New York)

The latest electronic test tube baby from our very own Natalie Abulhosn (writing under the moniker nytyly) bounces a melodically agreeable chorus against the hard wall of its disorienting verse.  Hypnotism is not something im regularly susceptible to, however ‘Wishing Machine‘ spins my brain around inside my skull offering no release from the dissonant pieces as my ego attempts to grab ahold of the stable ground presented at moments, then- gone.  @Dingusonmusic

Bring You Down feat. George Maple

artworks-000033889644-9zy617-t500x500‘Bring You Down feat. George Maple’ by Flume   (Sydney, Australia) *

Flume is an Australian producer whom we may have walked into a bit late, but nevermind the timing.  Similar in pacing to the latest from Bonobo, the self titled release which spawns a number of extremely tangible remixes from four months back most notably stood out for one of it’s sung tracks ‘Bring You Down’.  Saving some viceral satisfaction in the anticipated listener responce means that you’ll have to be patient as everything unfolds in an organic fashion.  And once you’ve stepped onto this plateau, continue to walk around a bit.  That’s what Soundcloud is for.  @Dingusonmusic
