‘Last Calls’ by PVTLVS (Berlin, Germany)
A slow build of lovelorn suburban ennui, beginning with syncopated Reich-esque xylophones and vocals reminiscent of Hot Chip’s ‘Boy From School’. The singing is simply stunning, and the instrumentals propel the song forward into another world, a glorious shoegazy mix of synthpop beats and post-rock guitars.
This song needs to be experienced, so do yourself a favor and watch the video, which displays beautifully the aforementioned ennui, all filtered through a visual lens of collected Americana. And of course, keep an eye (and ear) out for the PVTLVS full length, due out this winter. @Solidusonmusic
