12 Bar Bruise by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard (Melbourne)
Here’s some rocking tunes. Melbourne’s King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard has got it down. Calling in influences from New Zealand’s The Clean, Pavement, and Thee Oh See’s (who they admire and are most comparable to this shitrock sound) the 12 Bar Bruise is not to be missed. The whole album is solid surf rock, lo-fi batter patter, grooves that’ll make ya scream and shout. ’Nein’ is a solid garage punk song, the title track ’12 Bar Bruise’ is soft and sweet they even have a girl singer too (or a high pitched male. Same-difference) and ‘High Hopes Low’ is definitely the catchiest pop single. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are sure to be a hit and I wouldn’t be surprised if they blow up Stateside any second now. @CigaretteBreath
