Grunge on the Beach by Caves (UK)
Grungey. Nah nah nineties. This three song Ep from Caves is not exactly anything new but it ain’t unoriginal either. The first track makes me think Nirvana–it’s got a heaviness and a drone and some fast rocking drums. But it ain’t quite Grunge. It’s got that lo-fi, echoey flakiness that reminds you it was made in the last few years, but it’s not stuck in either time period. That lo-fi surfy wavy feel. It’s almost like grunge on the beach. Released on cassette by Distorted Tapes, if you’re on a beach with a flannel on to keep warm and you still own a walkman, this is the band for you. @CigaretteBreath
