Balcony by Grrrl Friend (Portland, Oregon)
I would like to introduce you to the sub-genre known as “dream punk” by way of Grrrl Friend’s, Balcony. Sometimes I don’t think these sub-genre’s make any sense but in this case, I’m all for it because you kind of turn your head to the side and think “oh yeah, dream punk, ok.” It works, plain and simple. Grrrl Friend have mastered that sweet and fuzzy garage sound while giving you that bite of punk. You get a little bit of sweet with a little bit of bitter. Balcony has a very laid back attitude. Everything seems to come really naturally which really gets showcased in ‘Float Away (Never Again)’. I could’ve used this today, I really would’ve enjoyed wandering in the sun to this. There is always tomorrow and tomorrow Balcony get’s moved to the top of my playlist. @LeahLovecat
