The SMF is dedicated to honoring the memory of Aristides de Sousa Mendes, a diplomat who’s heroic, government-defying actions saved 30,000 people [including Eric's grandfather!]. ASM was severely punished for his actions by the fascist Portugese government and condemned to a life of poverty.
