‘The Opera House’ by Mama Coco’s Funky Kitchen (Brooklyn, New York)
And now a few words from the crew at Mama Coco’s Funky Kitchen, along with their latest recording, done in a group session as a tribute: [Free Download]
“We recorded this song in tribute to our fallen hero, Bill Doss, co-founder of Elephant 6 and co-frontman of The Olivia Tremor Control.
Members of the All-About, Dr. Skinnybones, Ghost Pal, the Great American Novel, the Harmonica Lewinskies and the Jean Jackets came by to make the recording.
We are aware that “The Opera House” was originally sung by Will Cullen Hart. The last time we saw Bill Doss live was earlier this year, and the amount of energy, passion and pure love that emanated from him as he howled this song with the rest of the band still stands in all of our minds.” - Mama Coco’s Funky Kitchen
