Success by Napoleon (New York, New York) *
I’ve been waiting for over a week to divulge one of my favorite new groups, Napoleon. They’ve had a release scheduled with The Snake and I was afraid to let the news slip, but now I’m happy to bring you good news in three fold. Firstly, Success, Napoleon’s debut record is a gem. Not only is the album delivering on a radio-friendly pop separation, but its frequency as a whole merges piece by piece (think Zords) to create some kind of musical celebration. Swelling, as human emotions do, Success from cover to cover is an ivy league album.
Secondly, before you commit those six dollars (if you’re going to pay for music, getting your money right to the artist via sites like bandcamp is the way to go) you can own a sliver of their sound by checking our their free digital single release arranged by The Snake. To quote the curator, “The king of cool, smooth, finely tuned, ‘Sarafan’ is a track that will get you moving any place and every time. One of these perfectly stripped songs that keeps it to the bare bone basics and creates a mood that is tantalizing in its locomotion. Coupled with a video release, this single is one that should jump straight to your favorites.” [Free Download]
Last but certainly not least, a video that raises for questions than it answers. Mainly: what is this song about? @Dingusonmusic
