Octopus Wall Street (Best New Music)

Octopus Wall Street by The Harmonica Lewinskies   (New York, New York) *

For fucks sake it’s not new knews.  The Harmonica Lewinskies have been not only one of the most rockin live bands I’ve ever seen- but the inspiration to create a potential listing of “DIY MVPS” or some tasteless bullshit like that.  Now you can hear it, you can hear it all my boy.  And while you might have been appreciative of the four rough demos provided on Wagstaff (which seems disbanded into three individual singles now), you’ll be glad to know there truly is an ultimate satisfaction in being able to create a Lewinskies experience, in full, anywhere you can bring headphones.  With moments that feel fully realized (think the break down of ‘Tabitha King’) you begin to realize the real dragon slaying potential the group has.  One of the most impressive things a great live band like the Skeets (because it’s appropriate) can do is capture their human energy and package it as an item.  Octopus Wall Street will be one of my favorite albums of the year, top ten list for sure, take it to the grave.  @Dingusonmusic

+  This Weekend:  Catch The Harmonica Lewinskies (one of Brooklyn’s most passionately wild and fun live bands) at This is Not a Cult, one of our free DIY music events hosted by Freecandy.
