Fireplace by CBX (April 25, 2012)
CBX are a band stating that their EP, Fireplace, was ‘recorded at home with no monies’. Little do they know, that’s just the way I like it. I was immediately drawn to this album during my late night music search. One reason was because I found the cover aesthetically pleasing and the other reason was for it’s incredible lo-fi/keyboard/xylophone sounds. The EP bounces from instrumental tracks to vocal and I am equally attracted to both, especially ‘Rey’. ‘Rey’ is a guitar driven, 60′s psych sounding song, almost as if it were a part of my collection of 45′s. CBX host a perfect blend of Casio keys and psych, never weighing the scale too much on one end. Lovecat
